In a bid to cushion economic hardship and curb substance abuse ahead of the festive season, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and Hope Raisers Global Foundation (HRGF) have sealed a nationwide strategic partnership under the “Christmas With Hope 2026” project.The joint initiative, scheduled for rollout in December, will cover all 36 States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
It is designed to deliver direct food assistance to vulnerable households while driving intensive grassroots advocacy against illicit drug trafficking and consumption under the Agency’s War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) social advocacy platform.
Under the framework of the partnership, Hope Raisers Global Foundation will spearhead the nationwide distribution of staple food items to indigent families, low-income earners, and underserved communities, aiming to ensure that economic constraints do not deprive vulnerable citizens of a dignified holiday celebration.
Concurrently, the NDLEA will deploy personnel across its state and area commands nationwide to conduct youth-focused sensitization campaigns, town halls, and community dialogues aimed at preventing festive-period substance abuse and drug peddling.
Speaking during the announcement in Abuja, a representative of Hope Raisers Global Foundation noted that pairing food security with anti-substance advocacy addresses two interconnected societal pressures during the holidays.
”The festive period should be a season of dignity, joy, and peace.
However, hunger and poverty often leave families vulnerable, while social pressures during celebrations expose youth to illicit drug traps. By partnering with the NDLEA across all 36 states and the FCT, we are feeding hungry households with essential staple foods and protecting our communities from the menace of drug abuse.”
Commending the collaboration, an NDLEA official highlighted the strategic importance of civil society alliances in the broader campaign against illicit drug use.
”The fight against drug abuse cannot be won by law enforcement alone; it requires grassroots presence, community trust, and cross-sector partnerships.
Our collaboration with Hope Raisers Global Foundation for ‘Christmas With Hope 2026’ allows us to reach deep into grassroots communities nationwide, using the festive season to educate families, insulate our youth, and promote healthy, drug-free lifestyles.”
The joint project will leverage both organizations’ operational networks, utilizing local volunteer corps and NDLEA state formations to ensure transparent, coordinated distribution and maximum public engagement across all 37 jurisdictions.
The promoters concluded by calling on corporate institutions, international donor organizations, and well-meaning individuals to support the nationwide outreach as logistics and beneficiary mapping commence across the country.
