The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Nyesom Wike, says the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, remains the safest city in Nigeria.
Wike who stated this while responding to questions from journalists on the alleged bomb scare during an inspection tour of projects in Abuja, assured residents that there is no cause for panic over the false security alarm.

Dr. Wike allayed fears of a bomb scare and explained that the rumoured suicide bomber incident never occurred in the FCT.
Rather, an ignorant someone had put explosives used for rock blasting in his pocket, which resulted in him sustaining some degree of injuries.
“The Security Agencies never said there is suicide bomber. So we do not need to create wrong impression that will put fear in people. NEMA is not the Head of Security. Security Agencies are there.
” What happened is that somebody went to Quarry where they blast rocks and took explosives and put in his pockets. Of course some of them do not even understand the implication of that, and so it exploded on his hips.
” That does mean that he is a suicide bomber.”
He noted that the security of lives and property has improved tremendously in the territory under the Renewed Hope Agenda, as attested to by both residents and foreigners in the FCT.
He, however, pledged his commitment that the FCTA, under his leadership, will continue to do its best to improve security.
“Residents are aware that there is improvement in security in FCT. That is enough for us. We will continue to do what we are suppose to do” Wike promised.
