Another Ebonyi man and a youth leader, Emmanuel Obasi Okike, from Uburu in Ohaozara Local Government Area, has undertaken a 670-kilometre trek from Ilorin, Kwara State, to Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, to honour the member representing Ohaozara, Onicha, and Ivo Federal Constituency, Hon. Nkemkanma Kama.

Okike, who began the journey on August 25, said his decision was inspired by what he described as the unprecedented achievements of the lawmaker within just two years in office.

According to him, Hon. Kama has renovated schools, sunk solar-powered boreholes, organised free holiday lessons for students, and constructed roads, bridges, and other amenities across the constituency.

“We have never had it this good, and in just two years no one’s record can match what Hon. Kama has achieved,” Okike said.

He explained that after deep reflection, he resolved to celebrate the lawmaker “uncommonly” by embarking on the long trek, which he described as “a turbulent but fulfilling journey.”

Sharing his experience, the youth leader said insecurity forced him to divert his route from the Ekiti/Okene axis, passing instead through Bida, Minna, Suleja, Zuba, Lokoja, before finally reaching Abakaliki.

“Many people called me along the way to give up, but I refused because I am a man of my word. I believe that lack of confidence is the only barrier to success, and I was determined to complete this journey,” he said.
