Advancing Leadership : Dr. Jophia Nanker Gupar Represents Nigeria at High-Level Canada-UN Women Forum, Shares Nigeria’s Women Devt Story and Politics

Dr. Jophia Nanker Gupar, Founder of the Pan African Young Women Development Initiative (PAYWODI), share highlights from a powerful engagement held yesterday 22nd May, 2026 with the Canadian Government, UN Women, and the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development.

PAYWODI is a proud beneficiary of the Women Resource Centre, an initiative supported by UN Women with funding from the Canadian Government. As part of this partnership, Dr. Gupar was invited to this high-level meeting to share PAYWODI’s experience, showcase the impact of the Centre, and contribute to ongoing discussions on advancing women’s empowerment in Nigeria and across Africa.

Dr. Gupar also shared her recent experience as the only female aspirant among six male candidates in the supposed to be conducted free and fair APC primary election in her constituency of Pankshin, Kanke and Kanam in 16 day of May, 2026 which process, experience and outcome was quite shocking and a great disfranchised and set back to democracy. It’s in the light of mind and to seek justice as a Peaceful, Law abiding Citizen and a great Nation builder of Nigeria that Dr. Gupar and some of her key teaming supporters approach the APC State Secretariat in Plateau State on the 17th day of May 2026 where she submitted her appeal and attained to panel interview trusting God that the outcome of the appeal will be treated with true legal equity and justice for the protection of the Party integrity and our dear democracy.
It’s no longer news that, Dr. Gupar participation and discussion with the Canadian-UN delegation underscores PAYWODI’s commitment to breaking barriers and creating space for more women in leadership and politics.
