Federal High Court Mourns Justice Mohammed Nasir Yunusa

The Federal High Court has announced the passing of Hon. Justice Mohammed Nasir Yunusa of the Kano Judicial Division, who died on May 21, 2026, after a brief illness.


According to a statement issued by the Director of Information of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Dr. Catherine Oby Christopher, the respected jurist passed away at the State Medical Centre in Kano and was laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.


The Court described the late Justice Yunusa as a distinguished judicial officer who served the Bench with dedication, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to the administration of justice.


The statement noted that his contributions to the judiciary and the legal profession would remain memorable to his colleagues, members of the Bar, court staff, and all those who worked closely with him during his years of service.


“The Chief Judge, Judges, Management, and Staff of the Federal High Court extend their heartfelt condolences to his immediate family and pray that Almighty God grants them the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” the statement read.


The Court further prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.


Justice Mohammed Nasir Yunusa’s death has been described as a great loss to the Nigerian judiciary and the legal community.
