In fulfilment of his administration’s determination to ensuring that School Children get the best in the area of Education, the Executive Chairman of Afikpo Local Government Area,Nwachi, Timothy A. U., on Friday,11th October 2024 commenced the distribution of Instructional materials to Schools in the Council Area.
Items distributed by the Council Chairman to the 64 Primary Schools and 24 Junior Secondary Schools across Afikpo Local Government Area were packets of chalk.
The distribution which was the first phase of the exercise took place at the Local Government Headquarters and attracted the presence of the Chief of Staff to the Council Chairman, Apostle Peter Uduma Nwachi; the Leader of the Council,Hon Joel Inya Egwu; acting Education Secretary, Mrs Cecilia Ijeoma Mbe; the Honourable Councilors; Principals of Junior Secondary School as well as Head Teachers of Primary Schools in the area.
The Council Chairman who was represented by the HOD, Education & Social Welfare, Joy Irem noted that the gesture was part of his administration’s commitment to providing quality education and a conducive environment for teaching and learning in the Council Area, further assured that School Registers, Markers and other materials would soon be shared.
He explained that he had made Education a priority in his administration’s agenda as it was the bedrock of the Nation’s development and the best investment for a child and implored teachers, Parents and other critical stakeholders to join hands with Government to raise the standard of Education to what it used to be, which is the heart beat of the Educational Policy of the State Governor, His Excellency, Rt Hon Builder Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.
The Chief of Staff to the Council Chairman, Apostle Peter Uduma Nwachi and the Leader of the Council, Hon Joel Inya Egwu thanked the Teachers for their commitment to duty and revealed that the Administration of Nwachi, Timothy A.U will continue to reciprocate their efforts to groom our children into responsible citizens of the Country.
In their separate speeches, the Acting Education Secretary, Mrs Cecilia Ijeoma Mbe; NUT Chairman, Comrade Chinyere Ifeanyichukwu UKPAI; JUSPAN Chairman, Comrade Item Elizabeth Ogeri; and AOPSHON Chairman, Comrade Igwe Vincent Urom all applauded Afikpo Local Government Chairman, Nwachi, Timothy A. U for the gesture which is a testament that Education is top priority in his administration’s agenda and thanked him specifically for providing the cartons of chalk in such a large quantity to public schools in the Area which is a big relief to Teachers who have been using their money to buy the items before now and stated the emergence of Hon Nwachi, Timothy A. U. as the Council boss is a prayer well answered.
