Agitations Mount For Creation Of Ogoja State

Agitations for the creation of Ogoja from the present Cross River has continued to gather momentum as agitators intensifies mobilization efforts aimed at actualizing the age long campaigns.

In furtherance of their quest series of
public forum are being organized by stakeholders under the auspices of the Old Ogoja Province People’s Initiative across the country at beyond.

The move is meant to harmonize positions and fine tune necessary modalities for a united approach in demanding for Ogoja state.

Addressing stakeholders in Calabar, a former Acting Chief Judge of Cross River state, Justice Maurice Eneji sued for effective collaboration and unity of purpose among concerned stakeholders to guarantee attainment of set dream.

According to him;” We need to be united, purposeful and goal driven to achieve our common aspirations. Ogoja is the only province created by the British colonialists for administrative convenience that is yet to be accorded the status of a state in post independent Nigeria. This is a monumental injustice in all ramifications.

“We must come together as one,speak in one voice and move as a united force to ensure this anomaly is address for the sake of equity and justice. Our region is richly endowed and economically viable to flourish as a state when created”

Convener of the event, Dorn Cklaimz Enamhe said “the people and the state are ready and the time is now for a collective push towards the actualization of the lofty dream for Ogoja state”

He posited;” We need to look beyond what happened in the past and look to the future as our moment is now.

“The Ogoja man is ready, prepared and and we have all come in unison presently to say we are ready.

“This is the moment for Ogoja state where a serving governor can afford to tell you to go ahead.

“Senator Bassey Otu spoke to the beauty of the state and its future “, he said.

He also disclosed that” beyond this, all the chairman, councillors, senators and paramount rulers from the proposed State”.

In the same vein,a former military governor of Kwara State Col. Pam Ogar Rtd, lamented that all provincial headquarters in Nigeria have became states except Ogoja.

He expressed his total support for the proposed State stressing that Ogoja province has the landmass, resources and manpower to excel as a state.

Contributing, Professor Francis Mogu, a former secretary of the Movement for the Creation of Ogoja State called for unity and steadfastness to guarantee attainment of targeted aspiration.

He expressed optimism that the current glamour is in tune with God’s timing for the creation of Ogoja urging all hands to be on deck.

In her submission, Rita Anyim, a former chairman of Ogoja LGA opined that the proposed State will be one of the most viable in Nigeria given its abundant human and natural resources waiting to be to harnessed to accelerate socio economic development.

Ayim stated”We are blessed to have a Senator Ahmed Tinubu,a man with vibrant political will and tenacity as President, therefore I am optimistic Ogoja state is a reality”
