Betara Vows to Turn Vision into Reality…Pledges to personally build a befitting national edifice

The member representing Biu, Bayo, Kwaya Kusar and Shani Federal Constituency and Chairman House Committee on the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Mukhtar Betara, OON, has assured the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ. of his commitment to personally fund the building of a befitting National Secretariat for the association in Abuja.

Hon. Betara made the promise when he received a delegation of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, led by its National Chairperson, Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim, on a courtesy visit to his office.

Responding to NAWOJ’s request for support towards the development of its newly secured land in Lugbe, Abuja, the lawmaker pledged to take full responsibility for the project.

“I will build it for you. I assure you, I will personally ensure that NAWOJ has a befitting national secretariat,” Betara stated.

He also advised the Association’s leadership to ensure all necessary documentation is in place to facilitate a smooth process as the project progresses.

The lawmaker commended NAWOJ for its role in promoting professional journalism and amplifying the voices of women across the country, while expressing appreciation for the association’s recognition of his humble contributions to constituency development and women and youth empowerment.

Earlier, the National Chairperson of NAWOJ, Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim, said the visit was to formally notify Hon. Betara of his nomination for an award in recognition of his impactful projects, particularly in empowering women and youths.

The NAWOJ national chairperson also informed him of the association’s recent acquisition of a Certificate of Occupancy for a piece of land in Lugbe designated for the construction of a national secretariat.

In his remarks, Hon. Betara expressed gratitude for the honour and reaffirmed his willingness to support NAWOJ, pledging continued collaboration with the association.

The visit highlights growing synergy between policymakers and the media in advancing national development and strengthening institutional capacity for women in journalism.
