CONVENTIONAL GENOCIDE AGAINST AMASIRI COMMUNITY

We the People of Amasiri call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to intervene and instruct the National Boundaries Commission to supervise the Demarcation of the said Portion of land in contention as soon as possible and the Service Chiefs to intervene.

The purported claim by the 82 Division of the Nigeria Army that the military operation in Amasiri is a joint task Force deployed to maintain peace, law, and order is deceptive unholistic and deviant from peace keeping

2.The militarization of Amasiri community has left an open question about why the governor’s interest is against a peaceful community of Amasiri. The governor confronted Amasiri community that they did not vote for him during the election, this is inconsequential to a person trusted with the herm of affairs of the state. Governor Nwuifuru’s pronouncement and action against Amasiri community is a selective injustice against humanity.

3.Amasiri community has followed legal channels, beg for the intervention of the State Governments, and desperate pleading following the brutal killings of Amasiri citizens by Oso-Edda militia who have blocked the Federal road hunting and killing Amasiri citizens. 100’s of innocent Amasiri citizens have been killed on that road.

4.In 2023 a boundary adjustment committee reached an agreement to resolve the conflict between Amasiri community and Oso Edda. This agreement was revisited in 2025, yet the governor refused to implement it. Amasiri community approached the Federal High Court to address the resolution of the supreme court judgement on the disputed land but governor Nwuifuru instructed Amasiri community to withdraw the litigation which they did in compliance of the governor’s directives.

5.In a bid to maintain peace, Amasiri community have reported several killings of Amasiri citizens to the governor, including the adoption of a retired military officer and his wife from Amasiri who was adopted in his farm and was buried alive with his wife. This incident was also reported to the Nigeria Army, and they was no response from the two quarters.

6.Is governor Nwuifuru playing a vendetta on Amasiri community for not voting for him in 2023 election or is he playing a hidden script of the state party chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Party who is from Edda community?. The most unfortunate thing is the governor’s choice to use military force exclusively against Amasiri community in the stead of protecting all citizens equally.

7.The saddening shock of the moment is his live announcement in the church that he will make sure nobody exists in Amasiri, threatening to erase the entire community from existence. This is uncalled for, an elected public official to make such pronouncement against the people he rules.

THE MILITARY OPERATION IN AMASIRI COMMUNITY.

8.The military operation and action in Amasiri community is a conventional genocide against the community, the claim by the military to have uncovered where heads or mutilated bodies were buried is a ploy to conceal the genocidal operations against Amasiri community and to impress their paymaster. In the entire Igbo land there are always designated forests where people that committed sacrilege and little children are buried. When has cemetery becomes Unlawful in Nigeria?

9.The genocidal operation in Amasiri community is unethical and undemocratic and to be probed by both local and international communities for an infringement of their fundamental rights.
