Waiya Receives NIPR Crisis Communicator Award, One Kano Agenda Hails Recognition

One Kano Agenda has saluted the Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, on his conferment with the Best Crisis Communicator Award by the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).

The organisation described the award as a significant recognition of Waiya’s commitment to effective public communication and his efforts to ensure that citizens receive clear, timely and relevant information, particularly during situations requiring strategic and responsible communication.

In a statement signed by its Director General, Abbas Abdullahi Yakasai, One Kano Agenda noted that effective crisis communication goes beyond responding to challenging situations. It requires transparency, responsibility, strategic engagement and the ability to manage public expectations while fostering understanding among stakeholders.

The organisation said Waiya has demonstrated these qualities through his consistent engagement with the media and the wider public, describing his approach to communication as an important contribution to responsive governance in Kano State.

One Kano Agenda also commended the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations for recognising professional excellence in crisis communication, noting that such awards encourage public officials and communication practitioners to continually improve the quality, credibility and effectiveness of their engagement with citizens.

The organisation joined government officials, media professionals, colleagues and the people of Kano State in celebrating Waiya on the achievement, expressing confidence that the recognition would further motivate him to promote constructive communication, peaceful coexistence and responsive governance across the state.
