Dr. Sami Charles, Gusi Peace Prize Laureate, Global Business Icon, and PanAfricanist, has issued a statement condemning the reported unlawful detention of President Nicolás Maduro of Venezuela and his wife. The statement describes the act as barbaric, reprehensible, and a grave affront to international law, violating principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence.

The statement urges the United Nations, regional bodies, and peace-loving nations to condemn the act and take measures to uphold international norms and protect national sovereignty. Dr. Charles emphasizes that global stability depends on treating all nations with dignity and respect under international law.

The statement reads: “Dr. Sami Charles, Gusi Peace Prize Laureate, Global Business Icon, and PanAfricanist, condemns in the strongest possible terms the reported kidnapping of the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Comrade Nicolás Maduro, and his wife. This act, is not only barbaric and reprehensible, but also represents a grave affront to international law and a blatant violation of the fundamental principles of the United Nations, particularly the respect for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence of nations.

Dr. Charles notes that such actions reflect a dangerous neo-colonial tendency that undermines global order, erodes trust among nations, and threatens international peace and security. The targeting of a sitting president of a sovereign state constitutes an attack not just on Venezuela, but on the collective conscience of the international community.

He therefore calls on the United Nations, regional bodies, and all peace-loving nations of the world to unequivocally condemn this act and to take all lawful measures necessary to uphold international norms, protect national sovereignty, and prevent further destabilization.

Dr. Sami Charles emphasizes that global stability and the peaceful coexistence of humanity can only be sustained when all nations—regardless of their size, strength, or status—are treated with equal dignity and respect under international law.”
