Ebonyi Housing Scheme : Gov Nwifuru Orders Arrest of erring Contractors

Francis Nwifuru, the Governor of Ebonyi state, has directed immediate arrest of erring contractors handling the Amaeze housing scheme for shoddy job and failure to complete the project at expected time.

He gave the directive to the State Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Mr Francis Orih during inspection of some of his projects in Ebonyi central zone of the state.

Represented by his Deputy, Patricia Obila, said that decisive actions should be taken to ensure the project is completed as the people of the state a craving for development.

“The contractors involved in this delay must be arrested within three days starting from this night.

“These contractors were running after us when they were looking for the job but they are no where to be found now.

Nwifuru noted that the project was one of those expected that President Bola Tinubu will inaugurate when when he visits the state.

‘The housing project in Izzo community is however awesome and thought the contractors have been impressive, environment should be made clean.

“We are desirous to enhance our people’s well-being at all times as the people’s charter of needs mantra is firmly on track.

The governor also threatened to arrest the commissioner for housing if work on the project does not improve significantly when next he visits the site.

“All these things you are saying about the contractors are excuses as our people are waiting upon us to deliver.

Speaking to Journalists Francis Ori, the Commissioner said gover is the ministry was already in the process of getting the earing contractors having written to the state Commissioner of Police and the Attorney General of the state.

“I am not aware of any commissioner being awarded the project as the Amaeze people know those handling the project.

He explained that most of the contactors in the Izzo housing project have completed their projects but efforts would be intensified to ensure others are completed.

Said the project has ameliorated the sufferings of the people and assured that the people will put their eye on the project for speedy completion.
