Stakeholders of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in Ebonyi State have unanimously endorsed Comrade Nwuruku Olisa Alfred as the sole candidate of the state for the office of President of the Senate of the association.

The endorsement was contained in a communiqué issued after a consultative forum held at Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, where participants also declared support for the re-election bid of President.

The Forum, made up of past and present student leaders, zonal and campus representatives, said its decision followed extensive consultations and a thorough appraisal of aspirants from the state, noting that Nwuruku emerged as the most qualified based on competence, experience, and commitment to the student movement.

Describing him as a postgraduate student of Biochemistry at Ebonyi State University, the stakeholders said he has demonstrated strong leadership capacity, effective mobilization skills, and consistent engagement within NANS structures.

According to the communiqué signed by the Forum Chairman, Comrade Okoro Joshua Offor, the endorsement represents a collective resolve to present a credible candidate capable of repositioning the NANS Senate as a vibrant and functional legislative arm.

The Forum expressed confidence that Nwuruku’s emergence would advance the welfare and collective aspirations of Nigerian students, urging stakeholders across campuses and zones to unite in support of his candidacy.

On national policy, the stakeholders commended the Federal Government for the introduction of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), describing it as a strategic intervention to improve access to higher education.

They called for the sustained implementation, transparency, and continuous improvement of the scheme to ensure it delivers long-term benefits to students across the country.

The Forum also encouraged students nationwide to actively participate in the 2027 general elections, while warning against violence, electoral malpractice, and other vices.

Reaffirming its commitment to the unity and progress of the student movement, the stakeholders said their resolutions reflect a shared vision for responsible leadership and national development.

“Aluta Continua, Victoria Ascerta,” the communiqué concluded.
