The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Ezza South/Ikwo Federal Constituency in Ebonyi State, Comrade Goodluck Chidiebere Egwu, has promised to pursue development-oriented representation focused on empowerment, infrastructure and human capital development if elected in the 2027 general elections.
Egwu made the commitment on Wednesday at his country home in Abina Amegu, Ikwo Local Government Area, when he officially declared for the House of Representatives position for Ikwo/Ezza South under the people’s democratic Party PDP
While addressing party members, supporters and more than 200 persons who joined the PDP from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The candidate said effective representation should go beyond legislative presence to deliver initiatives that improve constituents’ welfare and economic opportunities.
He pledged to collaborate with relevant stakeholders at the National Assembly and other levels of government to attract projects and programmes that would have a direct impact on the people of Ezza South and Ikwo.
Egwu also called for unity among PDP leaders, members and support groups, urging them to work through the recognised structures of the party to strengthen its grassroots organisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
“People are making the PDP proud. Wherever our leaders are, they will be happy to know that the PDP is alive and well.
“We must continue to synergise, unite and reason together. There should be no separation and no division. All support groups must work with the party executives because we are working for one objective,” he said.
Earlier, the PDP Chairman of Ndufu Amagu Ward 2, Pastor Ebenezer Oshine, reaffirmed the ward’s commitment to the party, saying members would intensify mobilisation ahead of the elections.
Oshine said the party would continue to advocate free education, infrastructure development and economic transformation, while urging eligible voters to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and participate actively in the electoral process.
The gathering also witnessed the formal movement of over 200 LP, APC members into the PDP, led by Mr John Ekpoma. Ekpoma said the new members were prepared to deploy their grassroots networks to support the party’s candidates and strengthen mobilisation at polling-unit and ward levels.
The development comes as political parties and their candidates intensify grassroots engagements across Ebonyi State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
