RT Hon Francis Nwifuru, the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State and the State Executive Council, on Friday, September 6th gave approval for release of funds for the hosting of the 68th National Council on Education, as earlier approved by the Federal Ministry of Education, following the existing visitor- friendly serene environment in Ebonyi.
In a related development the State Executive Council while in session in a bid to boost Tertiary Education
to ensure convenience and ease of relocation of employees and unimpeded academic engagements of their wards and for the benefit of the host communities of the ICT University and University of Aerospace Engineering respectively, the Council approved the establishment of Secondary Schools in the two universities and the take-over of the existing Primary schools in their environs.
On the recruitment of management staff in the two universities, the Council after due consideration of the nominees presented before it, approved the appointment of the following in acting capacities :
- Mrs. Ugochinyere Mba Uka as Registrar, University of Aerospace Engineering, Ezza.
- Dr Chukwu Eze-Obia as Registrar, ICT University, Oferekpe, Izzi.
- Mr. John Onwe — Bursar, University of Aerospace Engineering, Ezza
- Dr Louis Chinedu Nkwegu — Bursar, ICT University, Oferekpe, Izzi.
- Dr. Victor Onyebuchi Igwe — Librarian, ICT University, Oferekpe, Izzi.
- Dr Paulina Nweke Okeye — Librarian, University of Aerospace Engineering, Ezza
On Foreign Scholarships, in
consummation of the processes for the implementation of the foreign scholarship programme of the State Government, the Council approved the release of about Nine Billion Naira (N9B) covering tuition, accommodation and feeding allowances of the successful candidates.
The Council further stressed the need for the privileged beneficiaries to attach utmost importance to this government’s gesture bearing in mind that they are highly indebted to the state. Consequently, all the beneficiaries are required to enter into a bond with the State Government to return to the state at the completion of their studies to contribute their quota in the development of the state.
This was contained in a Press Statement issued by Engr Jude Chikadibia Okpor, the Commissioner for Information & State Orientation, Ebonyi State. On Lands and Survey, in an effort to compensate those affected by the ongoing construction of the VANCO Junction Flyover and Tunnel.
The Council considered and approved the memo presented to it for the release of funds for the aforementioned purpose and further constituted a 7-man re-evaluation committee headed by the Commissioner for Infrastructure with emphasis on the need to take a second look at the evaluations submitted before payment.
