Niger State Governor, (Dr.) Umaru Mohammed Bago, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to unlocking the economic potential of Northern Nigeria through agriculture, mining, and industrialization.

Represented by his Deputy, Comrade Yakubu Garba, the Governor delivered a goodwill message at the Northern Nigeria Investments and Industrialization Summit (NNIIS–MAP 2025), held at the Ladi Kwali Hall in Abuja.

In his address, Governor Bago underscored the vast opportunities across the region, citing Northern Nigeria’s rich arable land, water resources, mineral deposits, and resilient population as key drivers of inclusive growth.

He noted Niger State’s ongoing agricultural transformation, including large-scale investments in tractors, harvesters, solar irrigation pumps, pivot irrigation systems, and mechanization programs aimed at boosting food security and attracting youth to farming.

Highlighting Niger State’s approval of Minna International Airport as a Special Agro-Processing Free Zone, Bago explained that the facility will open new frontiers in greenhouse farming, dairy production, meat processing, and export-oriented agribusiness.

He further stressed the state’s readiness to partner with local and international investors in agriculture, mining, renewable energy, and industrial development, in line with his administration’s New Niger Agenda and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Calling for stronger regional collaboration under the summit’s theme, “Unlocking Strategic Opportunities in Mining, Agriculture, and Power (MAP 2025),” Governor Bago said the roadmap provides a pathway to job creation, inclusive growth, and sustainable development for Northern Nigeria.
