A non governmental organisation, Hope Raisers Global Foundation and Learn By Building Foundation  collaborating with the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ FCT, has commenced a one month intensive training on digital optimisation with focus on rebranding, repositioning them in the Industry through the LinkedIn platform for 43 female journalists. In order to compete globally with other journalists.

The One month intensive training that will be certificated is all expenses paid by Hope Raisers Global Foundation and Learn By Building Foundation, the course is designed to reposition female journalists so they can assess higher paid jobs, hit consultancy deals and close multimillion naira deals. The training holds twice a week, two hours daily and attendance and participation compulsory.

So far lessons have focused on opening a linkedin account, enhancing visibility, Professional growth and network growth, Using a formal corporate photograph on the LinkedIn that will portray one as serious minded. The training also focused on the need to write about you in a way that whoever visits your page wants to engage you ASAP.

Among other things we were taught
Visibility, the objective was to increase presence on LinkedIn so that one’s profile can be easily seen by Editors and potential employers, potential clients.

Professional growth, the objective is to build a strong authoritative profile that highlights your professional competence at a glance, expertise, accomplishments, and body of work as a journalist.

Network growth, the objective is to expand your professional connection to include other Journalists, PR professionals, thought leaders, and experts across various fields.

Keeping the page busy was also stressed. Participants were encouraged to post their work regularly on linked in and keep the page as professional as possible. Overall the lectures have been an eye opener. I remember many years ago, I opened Facebook and was encouraged to open LinkedIn profile but I was not serious about it perhaps if I had done back then I may have landed better deals and sealed bigger deals.

Now I know better and also know that even at my age 53 it’s never too late to restart, rebrand and push myself to where I truly want to be despite belong to generation X, I know that online is the way the world is navigating to and getting it right. I wish to sincerely thank and appreciate Hope Raisers Global Foundation, Learn By Building Foundation and FCT NAWOJ for giving me this life changing opportunity to rebrand everything about me. Thank you.
