HOSCON CALLS ON NIGERIANS TO RALLY ROUND TINUBU
The leadership of Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas and Pipeline Impacted States (HOSCON) has called on all Nigerians to rally round President Bola Tinubu in order to make the nation a better place for all.
The call came yesterday following the Supreme Court verdict which finally laid to rest the judicial disputes over the outcome of the 2023 presidential elections adjudged to have been won by Tinubu at the apex court.
In a statement in Abuja by the executive chairman of HOSCON, Prince Dr. Mike Emuh and made available to the press, the body noted that while the president’s opponents had the right to contest the outcome of the election in court, the Supreme Court’s pronouncement had affirmed Tinubu’s victory and his opponents should now rally round him in the interest of national unity.
Emuh was emphatic that the verdict was a consolidation of the nation’s democracy, adding that the president would now concentrate on “full scale governance” as there would be no further distractions to his leadership and policy goals.
He stated:”With the Supreme Court verdict, the coast is now very clear for Mr. President to begin full scale governance in consonance with the Renewed Hope Agenda which promises a better deal for all Nigerians in economic prosperity and national unity.
“In this regard, we at HOSCON call on all Nigerians to come together and rally round the president to accomplish his government policies and programmes for the nation”.
Meanwhile, the HOSCON chairman has said that the composition of the Host Communities Commission should be in place without further delay as a necessary platform towards effective implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
This, Emuh further said, should be an independent body rather than being appendage of the regulatory body, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
