The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Niger State Chapter, joins the global community in celebrating International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025, a day dedicated to honoring the achievements, resilience, and contributions of women in all spheres of life.

This year’s theme, “Accelerate Action,” underscores the need to create a world where women’s voices are heard, their rights protected, and their contributions recognized. As female journalists, we remain committed to amplifying the stories of women, advocating for gender equity, and challenging stereotypes that hinder women’s progress in society.
While celebrating the strides made in women’s empowerment, NAWOJ Niger State acknowledges the challenges women still face, including gender-based violence, discrimination in their places of work, and limited access to leadership opportunities. We call on the government, private sector, and civil society to take decisive actions in ensuring gender-responsive policies that promote the inclusion and advancement of women.
NAWOJ Niger State reaffirms its commitment to using journalism as a tool for advocacy, awareness, and positive change. We urge all stakeholders to support initiatives that empower women, as a society that values women’s contributions is one that thrives.
On this special day, we salute all women, especially those in the media, who continue to break barriers, challenge norms, and inspire the next generation. Together, we can build a more inclusive and equitable world for all.
This was contained in a Statement jointly signed by Comrade Asabe Garba, Chairperson NAWOJ Niger Caretaker Committee and Comrade Maimuna Raji Egigogo, Secretary NAWOJ Niger Caretaker Committee.
