Ahead of the 2027 governorship election, stakeholders of Izzi Clan in Ebonyi State have unanimously endorsed Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for a second term, citing his achievements in infrastructure development, education, and human capital empowerment.

The endorsement was made on Saturday at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, Abakaliki, during a well-attended gathering of political leaders, traditional rulers, women, youths, and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Moving the motion for the endorsement, the Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, said Governor Nwifuru had distinguished himself through people-oriented governance and deserved another term to consolidate on the gains of his administration.

Nwebonyi stated that the governor had recorded remarkable achievements within three years in office, including the construction of over thousands kilometres of concrete roads, expansion of educational opportunities, and sponsorship of Ebonyi indigenes to study in foreign universities.

While addressing the gathering, the senator urged members of opposition political parties in Izzi Clan to collapse their structures and support Governor Nwifuru and the APC-led administration, which he said had served the people of Ebonyi State well. He emphasized that the peace, unity, and collective progress of Izzi Nnodo Clan were more important than individual political ambitions and partisan interests.

He further appealed to the people to support his own re-election bid as well as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term ambition, noting that ongoing federal infrastructure projects in the state demonstrated the commitment of the APC-led Federal Government to the development of the South-East region.

Seconding the motion, the member representing Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency, Hon. Emmanuel Uguru, described Nwifuru as a visionary leader whose administration had brought visible development across the state. He declared his support for the governor’s adoption as the sole APC governorship candidate for the 2027 election.

“I rise to second the motion for the endorsement of His Excellency, Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, as the sole candidate of the APC for the 2027 governorship election. I so second,” Uguru stated.

Also speaking, the National Treasurer of the APC, Chief Matthew Uguru, described the endorsement as a reward for good governance, stressing that the governor’s performance had earned him the confidence and support of the people. Similarly, the State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Stanley Mbam, said Nwifuru had fulfilled a substantial part of his campaign promises through the implementation of the People’s Charter of Needs agenda.

Representatives of women and youths in the clan, led by Mrs. Adeline Idike, also pledged their support for the governor’s re-election, describing his administration as inclusive, responsive, and development-oriented.

The event ended with a unanimous voice vote adopting Governor Nwifuru as the sole governorship candidate of the APC from Izzi Clan for the 2027 election, while declarations of support were also extended to President Tinubu, Senator Nwebonyi, Hon. Emmanuel Uguru, and other APC candidates in future elections.
