Land disputes involving Izzi Communities in Ebonyi state have persisted from the year 2023 through early 2026, characterised by violent clashes, fatalities, and government intervention without military invasion of a particular community

2.The major conflict areas include boundary disputes with neighbouring communities, resulting in the destruction of homes, farmlands, and loss of lives.
3.In December 2025, the government of Ebonyi state led by His Excellency, Rt Hon. Ogbonnia Nwuifuru resolved a long-running land dispute between Ndiakparata-Ndubia and Nduezeoke-Ndiechi communities in Izzi LGA establishing a peace agreement and designating the area as a buffer zone.

4.In a prompt intervention to restore a lasting peace between the two parties, the Ministry of Boarder-peace and Conflict Resolution, the office of the Surveyor General Ebonyi State, Eze John Nwenyi of Ndiakparata-Ndubia and his counterpart Eze Jonas Nwoba of Izzi LGA and youths from both communities were there at the peace meeting held in Old Government House Abakaliki.
5.At the end of the meeting, the Commissioner for Peace and Conflict Resolution, Professor Awo Nwobasi, presented a peace agreement paper on the State Governments Resolution on the matter to leaders and youths from the two parties.
6.THE ROOT CAUSES OF NDIAKPARATA-NDUBIA AND NDUEZEOKE-NDIECHI COMMUNITIES: THE Conflict generally stem from long-standing dispute over land ownership, boundary control of local resources and sometimes inter-tribal tension with neighbours
7.IMPACT OF THE CONFLICTS: THE dispute led to significant loss of lives, displacement and economic hardship, including the destruction of homes and farmlands.
8.Among other land disputes, in 2023 to 2024 the Nchioko Igbeagu Izzi land Conflict, also dispute between Ezza and Izzi tribe in Ebonyi state, an ongoing conflicts involving Enyibuchiri in Izzi and Ukelle in Cross River State and Enyigba Izzi against Ikwo people which lives were lost, properties destroyed and people displaced of their homes.
9.GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION: Ebonyi state Government intervened through Ministry of Boarder-peace and Conflict Resolution to restore peace between the warring communities and mandated the ministry and the Surveyor General of Ebonyi state to pick a date for boundary demarcation.
10.In view of the foregoing, why Should Amasiri community be unjustly treated with military invasion with unverified allegations? 2.Why should the Governor pronounced such judgement on the people of Amasiri without recourse to Conflict Resolution procedure? 3. Why should the governor de-listed Amasiri Development Centre? 4.why was the coordinator and the two traditional rulers from Amasiri is incarcerated to prison? 5. Is Izzi people more Ebonyi than others?
