For residents of Lafia, Akwanga and environs, religion and party affiliations are not any hindrance for the continued celebration of the victory of the PDP governorship candidate in the March 18th poll in Nasarawa state, Dr David Emmanuel Ombugadu.

The crowd that came out to celebrate the Monday’s verdict of the Nasarawa state Governorship Election Petition Tribunal that Dr Ombugadu is the rightful winner of the March 18th governorship election, set aside both religious and partisan affiliations.

Both Muslims, christians, wives of the chieftains of even the ruling APC were sighted amongst the latest celebrants in the state capital.

They all trooped out to the streets to celebrate the tribunal’s pronouncement, days after it was made.

Natives of Kanuri, Gwandara, Mada, Migili, Alago, Hausa, Affoh, Tiv, etc, were sighted at the private residence of Dr Ombugadu at Akwanga on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The whole of Nasarawa Eggon, his home local council was agog with dancers barricading the entire major streets.
The show was more in Lafia, two days after the judgement as the celebration continue at Ashiegye, Chiroma and Gayam, the tree wards of Lafia that enmeshed in litigation at the tribunal.
Both Muslims and christians sing songs of victory.

Surprisingly, supporters of other opposition parties including the APC broke their party allegiance to congratulate their PDP colleagues.

Their spouses joined the celebration in grand style as new alliances continue.
One of the APC stalwarts in Lafia who doesn’t want his name disclose for now has said “it’s your luck, we did all but God has given it to the PDP”.

Another APC Chief from Gayam whose family were amongst dozens of celebrants, said his wife voted Ombugadu against his will.
“I am not surprised that she is celebrating because even during the election, my wife mobilized her friends and children for Ombugadu against my candidate”.

A Lafia base New Nigeria People Party, NNPP woman leader, Hon Hajaratu, said election is not war.
“Gov Sule shouldn’t drag feats against the majority. The people have voted for Ombugadu and the court has affirmed it”.
