The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ warmly welcomes and appreciates the recent appointments made by NUJ National President, Alhassan Yahaya, recognizing the invaluable contributions of women in journalism.
Three exceptional women have been appointed to key positions, showcasing the president’s commitment to promoting inclusivity within the union.

Nigeria Association of Women Journalists National Chairperson Hajia Aisha Ibrahim disclosed this in a press statement issued to News men in Abuja.
Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim highlighted the appointees as follows;
Ngozi Mba and Nancy Orshi were appointed as members of NUJ Board of Trustees for Zones C and D respectively
While Hadizah Umar, immediate past chairperson , NAWOJ Nassarawa Chapter and Halima Shuwa of Yobe council were appointed as NUJ National Ex-officios for Zones D and E.
Deola Ekinne who was the former NAWOJ Chairperson of Lagos State Chapter is now Special Adviser to the NUJ President on Women Affairs.
She urged the new appointees to work closely with the present administration giving NUJ President their absolute loyalty while at the same time making contributions that will add value to the efforts of the President and growth of our dear Union.
These appointments not only recognize the dedication and hard work of these women but also underscore the president’s vision for a more inclusive and collaborative NUJ. By entrusting them with key responsibilities, Alhassan Yahaya demonstrates his confidence in their abilities to drive positive change and promote professionalism within the union.
NAWOJ extends heartfelt congratulations to the appointees and expresses its profound appreciation to President Alhassan Yahaya for his visionary leadership, stating that his commitment and promoting diversity will undoubtedly strengthen the Union and inspire future generations of journalists.
The association also extends her heartfelt congratulations to Tognan Bawa of Plateau council, who was also elected as the Auditor of the Union at the recently concluded NEC meeting in Kano.
Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim emphasized that these appointments and the election of Mrs. Bawa mark a significant step towards a brighter future for the union, and we eagerly anticipate the positive impact they will have on the journalism profession.
