NCWS Partners UNICEF, NPC, Holds One Day Sensitisation Campaign on Birth Registration

In a bid to have proper records of births, On 25th September, 2024, ahead of the Council’s NEC meeting, the National Council of Women Societies, NCWS Nigeria, organised a One-Day Sensitization Campaign on Birth Registration in partnership with the National Population Commission (NPC)and UNICEF with the theme, “Enhancing Birth Registration in Nigeria: Leveraging the NCWS Structure,”

At the meeting, Nigerian women were sensitised on the need for birth registration in their locality and it’s importance, thereby taking such learning experience and campaign to the grassroot to further create awareness and educate the rural women within their community On the legal right of every child from the age of 5 and above to get registered and obtain their certificate.

In order to accelerate birth registration scale in Nigeria, and to contribute to achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16.9 target in line with the Renewed Hope Initiative project of Nigeria’s First Lady, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
