Niger State Ministry of Water Resources Strengthens Water Treatment Capacity

The Niger State Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation Services, under the leadership of the Commissioner, Engineer Farouk Umaru Audi, has intensified efforts to improve access to clean and safe water across the state.

As part of this drive, the ministry has taken delivery of 600 bags of Aluminum Sulphate from a total of 1,600 bags expected, with the remaining 1,000 bags scheduled to arrive in the coming days. The supply is expected to significantly enhance water treatment operations across Niger State.

In a statement signed by the Information Officer, Safiya Yaman, the Commissioner noted that the chemicals are essential for water treatment and purification, stressing that their receipt reflects the ministry’s commitment to improving water supply and sanitation services for residents.

In a related development, the ministry also received 40 kegs of HTH-Chlorine on December 22, further strengthening its water disinfection and purification capacity. The development is expected to positively impact public health and improve the overall quality of life in the state.

Meanwhile, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Akilu Musa Kuta, described the state government’s renewed focus on water sustainability as timely and commendable, noting that the ministry’s ongoing interventions will contribute significantly to the New Niger Agenda on water revitalization.
