The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Niger State, Comrade Abdulkareem Lafene, has applauded both serving and retired directors of the state’s Ministry of Primary Health Care for their dedication, professionalism and unwavering leadership in strengthening grassroots health services.
Lafene, who was represented by the State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Comrade Adamu Akayako, gave the commendation at a send forth ceremony organised in honour of retired primary health care directors.

He urged serving health workers to emulate the retirees’ commitment, integrity and work ethic, noting that their contributions laid a solid foundation for improved primary health care delivery across communities in the state.
The event, organised by the Niger State Primary Health Care Directors Forum in collaboration with the Medical and Health Workers Union, was held at the union’s conference hall in Minna and attracted stakeholders from the health sector, labour leaders and union members who gathered to celebrate the outstanding service of the outgoing directors.
In his remarks, the State Chairman of the Medical and Health Workers Union, Comrade Usman Dabban, reaffirmed the union’s commitment to supporting policies that promote members’ welfare and advance primary health care delivery in the state. Highlights of the ceremony included the presentation of awards and cash gifts to the retirees in recognition of their service.
