The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced the commencement of online ticket sales ahead of the full resumption of Abuja–Kaduna train services on October 1st.
The development comes after weeks of intensive repair works on the tracks, following a recent derailment. The NRC Managing Director, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, who has been hands-on in supervising the restoration, assured Nigerians that the line is now safe and ready for operations.

Passengers can already access and purchase tickets online, a move expected to ease congestion at train stations and encourage early bookings.
Dr. Opeifa reiterated that the Abuja–Kaduna corridor remains a top priority for the NRC, not only because of its heavy passenger traffic but also due to its strategic importance in Nigeria’s transport system. He further noted that the Corporation is exploring improved security and monitoring measures along the entire route to guarantee passenger safety.
With ticket sales now active and the official restart date set, commuters have welcomed the news, describing it as a relief for thousands who depend on the train service for safe, reliable travel.
The NRC has assured the public that additional details on schedules and enhanced services will be communicated in the coming days.
