Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Correspondents’ Chapel, has strengthened its collaboration with Dr. PhysiQ Global Health & Wellness Ltd as part of preparations for the 2026 NUJ Health Conference scheduled for April 30 in Abuja.

The partnership was reinforced during a meeting hosted by Dr. PhysiQ, which both parties described as productive and forward-looking, with a shared commitment to advancing public health awareness and preventive care through media engagement.
Chairman of the NUJ FCT Correspondents’ Chapel, Felix Ojo, who led the delegation, underscored the importance of strategic partnerships in improving community wellbeing. He revealed that the Chapel boasts a membership of over 2,000 journalists, with about 300 expected to participate in the forthcoming conference.
Ojo explained that the initiative represents the second phase of the Chapel’s Health Awareness Workshop, which was introduced in response to a series of untimely deaths recorded among members last year. He noted that the development highlighted the urgent need to promote health consciousness among journalists, who often neglect their wellbeing due to the demands of the profession.
“The NUJ Health Conference is not only for journalists but also for the general public, as we aim to bridge the gap in health awareness and encourage preventive healthcare practices,” he said.
The NUJ Health Conference 2026, now in its second edition, is designed as a solution-driven platform that will convene policymakers, regulators, financiers, pharmacists, healthcare professionals, and media practitioners to address critical gaps in Nigeria’s healthcare system.
Top management officials of Dr. PhysiQ at the meeting included AbdulRahaman M. Huzaifa, Chief Medical Consultant; Yusuf Yunusa Otinawu, Chief Pharmacist and Consultant to the CEO; Anthony Momoh, Chief Medical Director; and Akanbi Olasunkanmi, Marketing Director.
Discussions focused on final preparations for the April 30 event, with both organisations expressing optimism that the conference would drive meaningful conversations and contribute to improved public health outcomes.
The management of Dr. PhysiQ emphasized the critical role of early diagnosis, preventive healthcare, and access to accurate health information in reducing avoidable deaths. They also highlighted the importance of stronger collaboration with the media in enhancing public enlightenment and addressing prevalent health challenges, including non-communicable diseases and limited access to healthcare services.
Both organisations reaffirmed their commitment to using the upcoming conference as a platform to promote health awareness, encourage behavioural change, and support policy-driven solutions aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare sector.
