The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council sadly announce the sudden demise of a veteran journalist, Elder Ambrose Sule Inusa.
Late Elder Sule, 70, died on Sunday May 4, 2025 while being rushed to the Federal Medical Centre Gwarinpa, Abuja after a brief illness.
He began his Journalism career with the Nigerian Observer Newspaper. He later became the Chief Press Secretary ( CPS ) to the then Minister of Information in the Second Republic, Garba Wushishi. He was also the former Chairman Press Center Management Committee NUJ FCT Council.
According to a Statement issued by Comrade Jide Oyekunle, the Secretary NUJ FCT Council, “he was the publisher of the Nigerian Environment Newspaper and until his death he was the Chief Executive Officer, FirstAll Online Media. Sad enough he would been 70 years today, May 5, 2025.
He hailed from Apana, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State and is survived by his wife and five children.
He was a remarkable individual whose contributions to the union and journalism profession at large will be deeply missed. His death is not only a significant blow to the union but also to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The council receives the news of his death with rude shock and yet to come to terms with the reality of his sudden passing.
Late Elder Sule was not only a strong member of the council but a committed
veteran who is always ready to lend a helping hand to colleagues whenever the need arises. He was not just a professional colleague but a friend to many, and his sense humility, kindness and dedication will be remembered
It is more worrisome that he died when the new excos of the council had concluded a plan on the policy framework capable of improving the wellbeing and healthcare for our elders and veterans in the profession.
He was a professional, exemplary and hard-working journalist, who discharged his duties with a high sense of accuracy, diligence, devotion and integrity.
Late Elder Sule was modest, calm and gentle during his lifetime and would be greatly missed by his colleagues and fans.
NUJ FCT council has lost an industrious, notable and active member to the cold hands of death.
He played a pivotal role in ‘peace making’ and upholds those values that define us as a union. “Your unwavering commitment to ethical standards is a testament of the passion that you have for the journalism profession”
We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who were touched by his life and pray to God to give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
