Odii’s Group Rejects Ogah’s Allegations, Defends Right to Demand Accountability

The Anyi Ga Emeya Movement has rejected allegations by the member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency, Hon. Chinedu Ogah, that the 2027 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ebonyi State, Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, is sponsoring cyberbullying and propaganda against Governor Francis Nwifuru.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by its spokesman, Mazi Moses Idika, the group described the allegations as “baseless” and an attempt to criminalise free speech and legitimate criticism of government.

The movement argued that citizens have a constitutional right to demand accountability from elected officials, insisting that asking questions about governance and public spending should not be interpreted as cyberbullying or cyberstalking.

According to the statement, Ebonyi people are entitled to request a scorecard from the state government on the management of public resources and the implementation of its programmes.

“The demand for accountability is not an attack on government but a fundamental principle of democratic governance,” the group stated.

Responding to Ogah’s challenge for Odii to demonstrate his contributions to Ebonyi State, the movement highlighted the activities of the Ebele and Anyichuks Foundation, claiming that it has empowered more than 10,000 youths and women through grants, vocational training and business support across the state’s 13 local government areas.

It also claimed that the foundation has awarded scholarships to over 5,000 students, established agro-processing and information technology hubs, provided medical outreach programmes, free health insurance for vulnerable persons, and built more than 200 houses for widows and other disadvantaged residents.

The group challenged the lawmaker to verify the claims.

The statement also dismissed allegations that Odii was influencing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register underage voters, describing the accusation as “reckless” and “defamatory.”

It urged Ogah to submit any evidence in his possession to the appropriate security agencies instead of making public allegations.

While maintaining that Governor Francis Nwifuru should be commended for areas where his administration has performed well, the movement said constructive criticism of government policies and programmes should not be mistaken for political hostility.

It added that opposition parties have a responsibility to hold governments accountable while offering alternative ideas for development.

The group further stated that it would continue to demand transparency and advocate improved healthcare, education, job creation, agricultural development and responsible management of public resources in Ebonyi State.

The statement comes days after Hon. Ogah accused Chief Odii of sponsoring cyberbullying and misinformation against the state government and challenged him to point to his contributions to the development of Ebonyi State. Ogah had also made allegations relating to underage voter registration, which the Anyi Ga Emeya Movement has denied.
