On the Collapse of PDP and the Rise of a New Order
By Hon Gloria
When i Described PDP as haven collapsed into the carcass of a once grand duplex, I was speaking from clear-eyed realism. You cannot live comfortably in a structure that has been stripped of its very soul, it might still look familiar, but it is no longer habitable nor safe. Even back then, many cynical voices rushed to defend the indefensible, but reality is the ultimate referee.
Today, it is clear that Senator Ned Nwoko, driven by the needs of his people, looked beyond sentiment, took decisive action, and organically led his people in a political tsunami that closed an era, at least in Delta State. Those still hanging onto the broken beams of that old structure now know it is wiser to move, or risk being politically stranded.
What True Opposition Must Mean
It is easy to chant for vibrant opposition, but opposition must not exist for opposition’s sake. It must be value-driven, not greed-driven, and certainly not anchored on desperate ethnic politics.
A lot has happened in the last two years. We have a Southern president who has shown leadership, vision, and commitment. It is only fair and just that the South rallies behind him to complete a full eight-year cycle. Nigeria must resist the dangerous temptation of dressing up ethnic sentiment as political activism. Democracy is not served by mindless opposition or sectional bitterness.
The Emir of Kano, former CBN Governor and a consistent voice on Nigeria’s economic realities, recently stated beyond tribal sentiments that it would be grossly unfair to blame President Tinubu for Nigeria’s economic woes. The decline, he reminded us, started long ago, masked by unsustainable borrowing and poor fiscal discipline.
Hunger, Opposition, and the Bigger Picture
Are Nigerians hungry? Yes, but hunger did not start today. We have been navigating a steady economic nosedive for well over a decade. The difference now is that bold, sometimes painful policies are being introduced.
The game changers are Naira for Crude policy, a renewed focus on constitutional review, and a genuine hope for restructuring.
While the need for vibrant opposition remains essential in a democracy, we must prioritize what is good for the people now, not cling to world-prescribed systems while saddled with a constitution that makes major reforms almost impossible.
First things first: true federalism, economic zones, local government autonomy, a sovereign currency regime, and State creation , with Anioma State at the forefront. Some of the proposed amendments. With more States aligning with the Federal, ammendment is well within view.
When the burden at the centre is lifted, real progress in electricity, security, infrastructure, and general development will come from empowered regions.
Giving Credit Where It Is Due
This is why Senator Ned Nwoko must be recognized. Through his strong legislative work before the constitutional review committee, his refusal to dance to the tunes of political correctness, and his bridge-building across party lines, he is setting the pace for the new political order.
His charge to the Governor and his focused, tireless work within the APC show that he is not here to decorate offices but to deliver results. In a short time, he has secured the Party’s commitment to the creation of Anioma State. Anioma is watching closely, ready to match goodwill with results.
Let others play politics as usual, we are here to rewrite the story, and this time, it will be written in our own ink. That has been, and continues to be, Senator Ned’s style of leadership, bold, unapologetic, and purpose-driven.
A Call to Embrace People-First Governance
As we move forward, politicians must embrace a new order, one cruelly focused on the people. Life is hard and brutish for many Nigerians, and the only politics that matters now is the politics that eases their burdens. Senator Ned Nwoko’s consistent focus has been on how basic needs can be effectively provided, that is a vision worth adopting, not vilifying.
His organic following is not manufactured, it is a loud statement by the people of Delta. It behoves the political elite to cut down the cost of governance, prioritize the people’s welfare, and deliver the true change that Nigerians deserve.
The future is not in recycled politics, it is in bold leadership. A New Delta and an Anioma State are no longer distant dreams, they are within reach if we stay focused.
This is not just about politics, it is about building a future we can finally be proud of, brick by brick, truth by truth, action by action.
