The Second Edition of Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike Renewed Hope School Sports Festival 2025 has officially begun, bringing together talented young athletes from across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in a celebration of sportsmanship, teamwork, and youth empowerment.
Speaking of the approval, the Director,Department of School Sports under the Education Secretariat, Malam Hashimu Adamu said this year’s festival promises an extraordinary showcase of talents, featuring public and private schools competing at the primary, junior, and senior secondary levels.

According to him,the festival Highlight includes a wide range of sports activities:
Track Events: 100m, 200m, 400m, relays, and long-distance races.
Field Events: High jump, long jump, shot put, and javelin.
Team Sports: Football, volleyball, basketball, and handball.
Board Games: Chess, scrabble, and traditional games like ayo and ludo.
The Director explained that the preliminary competitions are being held at zonal levels from February 3 to 14, with the grand finale scheduled for February 24 to 27 at the MKO Abiola National Stadium,
He added that , the importance of sports in shaping young minds cannot be overemphasized.
He called for support and active participation by sports enthusiasts, stakeholders passionate about youth and community development while encouraging corporate sponsorship to support the festival’s success and sustainability.
He therefore thanked the Minister for his commitment to fostering physical development, discipline,unity among students as well as building not only future sports champions but also responsible citizens who understand the value of teamwork and perseverance.
