In a bid to cushion the effect of the subsidy removal on Ebonyi State indigenes, the hard working, amiable Governor, Rt Hon Francis Nwifuru, announced a salary increase of N10,000 to all Civil Servants of the state.

Hon Chikadibia Jude Okpo, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation Ebonyi State dropped this hint to journalists on Friday July 14, 2023 shortly after the Council of State Meeting.

Rt Hon Nwifuru also instructed the Secretary to the State Government, SSG Prof Grace Umezuruike to analyze the finances of Ebonyi State University (EBSU) to enable them determine what comes, so as to review upwards the subvention for the State University.

Following the removal of subsidy some State governments embarked on steps that will help cushion the effect on their people and Ebonyi State is not left out.

“The Council also approved the employment of 1,454 staff into the state Civil Service to make up for short falls in staffing” according to Hon Okpor.
