Prince Sadique Abbas Tafida has emerged Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party PDP for the up coming by-election of the House of Representatives Seat of Jalingo, Yoro Zing in Taraba State.
The Prince emerged winner of the ticket after all the six other candidates of the party who contested with him voluntarily withdrew from the contest at the he Primary election of the party held at the Gym Hall of Jolly Nyame Stadium Jalingo.
Those who withdrew from the race include; the former Permanent Secretary, Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy affairs, Hon Bello Yero, the chairman, Taraba State Palliative Committee Hon. Saleh Sa’ad, former Commissioner of Youth and Sport Hon Hassan Papa, Hon Abdullahi Baba, and Hon Leah Solomon.
Declaring the result shortly after the elections, the Chairman of the Electoral Commitee Alhaji Mohammed Aliyu, said a total number of 96 delegates across the constituency was accredited out of which the total vote cast was 95, all for Hon Prince Abbas Tafida
“With this development, the Prince will lock horns with Hon. Aminu Ibrahim Malle of the All Progressives Congress APC and other candidates of the various political parties at the general election scheduled for the 3rd of February 2024.
Adressing newsmen shortly after his victory was declared, Prince Abbas Tafida expressed his sincere gratitude to the party’s leadership for their unwavering support and tireless efforts to see that the election was conducted free and fair under a peaceful atmosphere

Prince Tafida equally appreciated the delegates and his supporters for finding him worthy to flag the ticket of the PDP at the election, encouraging them to do same in the coming election slated for 3rd February 2024.
“I want to commend the leadership of our great party, the PDP at all levels for ensuring that we have a free and fair election this day. I also want to laud the unity and overwhelming support of members of my party, their steadfast and commitment towards our victory in the upcoming election is commendable
“I want to assure every one that I will do everything possible to reach out to all the nooks and crannies of the constituency to ensure that I deliver our great party at the upcoming election”. He added.
Recall that this by-election comes as a result of the unfortunate demise of the elected member, Late Hon. Isma’ila Yusha’u Maihanci, who died shortly after his election while waiting for official sworn in.
In a similar development, a former national assembly lawmaker Hon Aminu Ibrahim Malle won the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary bye-election for Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency of Taraba State amidst jubilations.
In a keenly contested bye-election, Hon Malle scored the highest number of 41 votes to defeat four other contestants.
Those who contested alongside him are, Hon Balyaminu Umar 29 votes, Mohammed Abdulmumini Hamza 26 votes, Ahmed Alkali 13 votes while Kashimu Bello registered 0 votes respectively in that direction.
Declaring the result, Chairman for the committee, Lawal Samaila Abdullahi said Hon. Malle who scored the highest number of votes remain duly elected candidate for APC.
He remarked that in every contest only one person will emerge and therefore called on other contestants to embrace the winner hence the party remains a one united family.
Abdullahi who expressed satisfaction on the conduct of the primaries noted that delegates deserved commendation as the election witnessed free, fair and transparent exercise.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after declared winner, the former lawmaker revealed that the party has come out with the best election ever in Taraba State where free, fair and transparent polls have prevailed.
According to him, this is a clear manifestation of the quality of leadership at the national Secretariat led by the national Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje and his team.
Hon Malle who thanked God for peaceful conduct of the primaries devoid of rancor and acrimony expressed delight on the maturity of delegates at the poll.
The former lawmaker who sued for peace and understanding urged other aspirants to join hands with him to move the constituency forward.
He assured party faithful that his victory at the just concluded primaries is victory for all APC family and applauded national Committee delegates led by Lawal Samaila Abdullahi for standing by justice, equity and fairness.
