The newly established Veteran Sport FC, based in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, is strengthening its football structure through strategic player recruitment, partnerships with football academies and participation in competitive youth football programmes.
Speaking during an interview, the Team Lead of Veteran Sport FC, Mr. Amos Moses, said the club is positioning itself for a strong future in Nigerian football with an ambitious programme focused on professional football development, youth talent discovery and the creation of clear pathways for promising young footballers.
Moses explained that a major component of the club’s development strategy is its participation in the NLO U-19 Youth League, which provides young players with valuable competitive experience, exposure and an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities in a structured football environment.
He stated that the club’s vision extends beyond simply participating in football competitions.
In his words, “Our goal is to build a football structure where young talents can be discovered, developed and given the right platform to progress. We want to create opportunities for players who have the talent and determination but may not have had the right exposure.”
He explained further that Veteran Sport FC is committed to combining football development with discipline, professionalism, education and player welfare.
According to him, the club recognises that developing a successful footballer requires more than technical ability, stressing that “football is not only about talent. Discipline, character, education, commitment and professionalism are very important. We want to develop complete players who can represent themselves, their families and the club positively wherever they find themselves.”
Moses further noted that the club is deliberately building relationships with football academies, clubs, scouts, coaches, agents and other stakeholders in the industry as part of efforts to strengthen its scouting and player-development network.
One of the latest milestones in this direction is the partnership between Veteran Sport FC and Atlantic Integral Football Academy, which reinforces the club’s commitment to identifying and nurturing emerging football talent.
The partnership is expected to create additional opportunities for young players to receive quality development, gain competitive experience and potentially progress to higher levels of professional football.
The Team Lead stressed that the club’s ambition is to establish a sustainable football development model rather than pursue short-term success.
“We are building for the future. We want Veteran Sport FC to be recognised not just as a football club, but as a platform where young people can develop their football careers and also become responsible and disciplined individuals,” Moses stated.
Veteran Sport FC is also looking to deepen its engagement with football stakeholders within Abuja, across Nigeria and beyond, with a view to improving technical standards, scouting opportunities, player management and professional football development.
With its participation in the NLO U-19 Youth League, growing partnerships and focus on youth development, the club believes it is laying the foundation for a competitive and professionally managed football outfit.
Moses noted further that the mission is clear: “We want to discover talent, develop talent and create the pathway for that talent to succeed.”
As Veteran Sport FC continues to expand its football structure, the club remains committed to competing with ambition, nurturing young talents and contributing meaningfully to the growth and future of Nigerian football.
