The WANILTU Academy, the National Association of Farmers in Nigeria (LADFAN), LAS Family Network Nigeria, and Paradigm News are pleased to announce the commencement of a strategic partnership aimed at promoting sustainable agriculture, peace building, economic empowerment, and community development across Nigeria and the Sahel region.

This collaboration brings together the unique strengths and expertise of the four institutions to address critical challenges affecting communities, including food insecurity, farmer-herder conflicts, unemployment, poverty, and limited access to economic opportunities.
As part of the partnership, WANILTU Academy will lead capacity-building and training programmes for farmers, pastoralists, youths, and women. The Academy will provide practical knowledge in agricultural business development, value-chain management, entrepreneurship, livestock production, and self-reliance skills. It will also deploy experts to identify underserved communities and implement interventions that enhance productivity and social cohesion.
LADFAN, under the leadership of Alhaji Nuruddeen Nyako, will serve as the coordinating platform for farmers and agricultural stakeholders. The association will mobilise farming communities, engage government institutions and development partners, facilitate access to funding opportunities, and promote sustainable agricultural practices across Nigeria and the Sahel region.
LAS Family Network Nigeria, under the leadership of Alhaji Sani Jada, will serve as the strategic link institution and coordination body for the partnership. The organisation will strengthen engagement with traditional institutions, religious bodies, development organisations, academic institutions, community leaders, and other key stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of the initiative.
As part of its mandate, LAS Family Network Nigeria will coordinate activities across Nigeria and the Sahel region, facilitate stakeholder collaboration, and support the development of strategic partnerships that will contribute to the long-term success and sustainability of the programme.
Paradigm News, led by Mr. Raymond Enoch, will coordinate the media and communications component of the initiative. The organisation will provide comprehensive news coverage, documentary productions, television and radio programmes, public awareness campaigns, and digital media outreach to amplify the impact of the partnership and showcase success stories from participating communities.
The partnership is founded on the belief that sustainable development, peace, and prosperity can only be achieved through collaborative efforts that empower communities, strengthen relationships between farmers and pastoralists, and provide access to education, information, skills, and economic opportunities.
To achieve these objectives, the partners will organise training workshops, community peace dialogues, stakeholder conferences, agricultural exhibitions, town hall meetings, entrepreneurship programmes, and development forums. Special attention will be given to climate-smart agriculture, conflict transformation, youth engagement, women’s empowerment, and community development.
The expected outcomes include improved cooperation between farmers and herders, increased agricultural productivity, expanded participation in agribusiness, enhanced livelihoods, stronger community resilience, and a reduction in conflicts that have negatively impacted development across many parts of the region.
The partnership will also serve as a bridge connecting rural communities with governments, development institutions, investors, and private-sector actors, creating opportunities for sustainable investment, economic growth, and inclusive development.
The partners remain committed to working together to advance peace, food security, economic empowerment, and sustainable development across Nigeria and the wider Sahel region.
