A Tribute from the Management and Editorial Staff of Weekenders Magazine
Today, the Management and Editorial Staff of Weekenders Magazine join family, friends, colleagues and members of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) to celebrate an exceptional woman, a distinguished journalist, an accomplished leader and a woman with a truly heart of gold — Hajia Aisha Ibrahim, National Chairperson of NAWOJ.

Ma, your tenure has been characterised by vision, inclusiveness, compassion, courage and purposeful leadership. You have demonstrated that leadership is not merely about occupying an office, but about leaving a lasting legacy and creating opportunities for those coming behind.
Under your leadership, NAWOJ has recorded remarkable milestones, including:
- Securing the Association’s future through property development: Your commitment to the NAWOJ National Secretariat has seen you take practical steps towards securing the association’s institutional home, including the payment for the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) and the advancement of plans for the Secretariat.
- Driving the development of a befitting NAWOJ National Secretariat: Your vision of giving NAWOJ a permanent and befitting home is gradually becoming a reality. From designing the Secretariat to mobilising support and raising funds towards its construction, you have demonstrated that you are a leader who thinks beyond today and is building for generations of women journalists yet unborn. The acquisition of land for the National Secretariat has also been publicly recognised as a significant milestone for the association.
- Pioneering the Women in Security Summit and Awards (WINSEC): You gave NAWOJ a new national platform by spearheading the maiden Women in Security Summit and Awards, bringing together stakeholders to recognise the courage, sacrifice, professionalism and contributions of women in Nigeria’s security architecture. The historic summit held at Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, and was described as a landmark achievement in NAWOJ’s nearly four-decade history.
- Celebrating and empowering women in security: Through WINSEC, you championed the message that women must be recognised, empowered and given a meaningful place in national security and decision-making. The initiative has also opened the door for stronger collaboration between NAWOJ, security agencies and other national stakeholders.
- Strengthening NAWOJ’s visibility and partnerships: Your engagements with the Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Army, Police, NAPTIP and other institutions demonstrate your determination to position NAWOJ as a serious stakeholder in national conversations on security, peacebuilding, women’s empowerment and national development.
- Ensuring relative Peace across all the State Chapters as well as a Smooth relationship with the National Officers.
Ma, beyond these achievements are the qualities that make you truly special — your humility, accessibility, generosity, compassion and genuine concern for people. For this we call on NAWOJ members across the country to make it 3+3 in November 2026.

You have shown that a woman can lead with strength without losing kindness, and exercise authority without losing humanity. You listen, you encourage, you bring people together and you make people feel valued. You don’t judge.
On this special day, the Management and Editorial Staff of Weekenders Magazine celebrate not only the National Chairperson, but the woman behind the position — a kind soul, a courageous trailblazer, a bridge-builder and a woman whose sacrifices continue to make a difference. A true Ambassador of Biu Kingdom.

We appreciate your service to NAWOJ, your dedication to women journalists and your commitment to building a stronger and more united association.
As you mark another beautiful year, we pray that Almighty Allah grants you sound health, abundant grace, wisdom, peace, protection and renewed strength. May He reward your heart of service, bless your family, enlarge your territory and grant you many more years of fulfilment and impactful leadership.
May the years ahead bring even greater accomplishments, and may you live to see the NAWOJ National Secretariat standing proudly as one of the enduring legacies of your tenure.
Happy Birthday, our dear National Chairperson, Hajia Aisha Ibrahim!
