Weekenders Magazine heartily celebrates an illustrious son of Amasiri, Engr. Michael Chukwu, Acting Director, Air Safety Administration (DASA), Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, as he marks his birthday anniversary on May 27th.
Engr. Michael Chukwu has distinguished himself as a seasoned aviation professional and dedicated public servant whose contributions to Nigeria’s aviation industry continue to earn admiration and respect within and outside the sector.

His remarkable commitment to aviation safety oversight, policy implementation, and coordination of air safety administration has contributed immensely to strengthening Nigeria’s aviation standards in line with international best practices.
Born in Suleja, Niger State, Engr. Chukwu attended Federal Government College, Kwali, before proceeding to the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), where he built the academic foundation for his successful professional journey.
Over the years, he has attended several globally recognised aviation institutions, earning certifications and professional exposure that have greatly enhanced his expertise in the aviation industry.
As Acting Director of Air Safety Administration (DASA), Engr. Michael Chukwu plays a strategic role in ensuring effective collaboration between Nigeria’s aviation agencies and international regulatory bodies toward maintaining global aviation safety compliance. His dedication, professionalism, and wealth of experience have continued to impact positively on the sector.
Before his present appointment, he served at the Nigeria College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria, as Head of the Quality Assurance Unit, where he also demonstrated excellence and outstanding leadership in aviation training and quality assurance administration.
