Francis Nwifuru, the Governor of Ebonyi State, has commenced the commissioning of completed projects and the inspection of ongoing ones across the state.

This is part of the activities marking his successful two years in office.

Among the projects commissioned is the palace of the Traditional Ruler of Agbaja, Eze Emmanuel Nwojiji, along with that of his Ezzama counterpart, Eze Charles Mkpuma.

These projects include 64 duplexes constructed for traditional rulers in the state.

At the project commissioning, the governor emphasised the importance of collaboration between the government and royal fathers in achieving good governance.

During the inspection, the governor, accompanied by major stakeholders in the state, including former Governors and National Assembly members, visited the Vincent Agwu Nwankwo (VANCO) Tunnel and Flyover, which is currently under construction.

The governor explained that these projects are intended to enhance the state’s appearance, restore the lost aesthetics of the capital city, and alleviate traffic congestion in the area.

He further stated that the project is set to be completed within 24 months and assured residents of Ebonyi that strict adherence to engineering standards and safety protocols will be maintained. He also disclosed that property owners affected by the project have been compensated by a joint committee from the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure following a thorough evaluation.

At the Ebonyi State Housing Estate, located opposite Chyboy Motors on Afikpo Road, 140 housing units are at various stages of completion. The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to prioritizing housing and addressing the existing housing deficit. He noted that when completed, the duplexes will be allocated to civil and public servants who have demonstrated exceptional performance in their fields.

While guiding stakeholders around the University of Aeronautics and Aerospace Engineering in Ezza, the governor mentioned plans to open the state to aviation and space opportunities in line with the People’s Charter of Needs Agenda.

Additionally, at the Ebonyi State University of ICT in Oferekpe Agbaja, the governor announced that the National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the commencement of academic activities for 24 programs at the university, starting in September, due to the progress made on the Senate and Administrative Building, as well as the Lecture Theatres.
