ADC Moves to Consolidate Leadership Structures in Ebonyi Ahead of 2027

By Nkechinyere Ewa-Okpara, Abakaliki

The State Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ebonyi, Dr. Jennifer Adibe-Nwafor, says the party has commenced harmonization of its leadership across the three senatorial zones of the state to integrate coalition members and strengthen party structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking to journalists in Abakaliki over the weekend, Dr. Adibe-Nwafor revealed that Ebonyi South zone has successfully concluded its harmonization process, while similar meetings are scheduled for the Central and Northern zones in the coming weeks.

She described the ongoing harmonization as a strategic move aimed at consolidating the growing strength of the ADC, positioning it as a credible alternative in the state’s political landscape.

“This harmonization is a critical step toward accommodating all coalition member parties and creating a united front,” she stated.

The ADC chairperson, however, cautioned individuals and groups against underhanded tactics, calling on intending defectors from other political parties to follow due process in joining the ADC.

“We are open to genuine coalitions, but political backdoor tactics and structural hijack attempts will not be tolerated,” she warned.
“Anyone who wants to join the ADC should come through the front door—register with us officially and don’t sneak in to undermine our system.

Dr. Adibe-Nwafor emphasized that there is only one recognized ADC structure in Ebonyi State, which is under her leadership and duly affirmed by the party’s national leadership.

She disclosed that the party has witnessed a surge in new volunteers and defectors from major parties including the PDP, Labour Party, APC, and SDP, noting that many of them are seeking a credible platform for political engagement.

“Some claim to have joined ADC yet have not picked up membership cards or contacted the state leadership. That is not how coalitions work. The ADC is not a party for political hijackers—it is a party of structure, process, and discipline.”

The ADC leader extended an open invitation to political support groups such as the Obidients, Atiku loyalists, and El-Rufai supporters, encouraging them to collapse their structures into the ADC and build a formidable political platform for national rebirth.

“This is not campaign season. Now is the time to build. You want a winning ticket in the future? First, build the party. Join the structure. That’s how you earn relevance and respect,” she advised.

She also reassured new members that their political ambitions and interests would be protected within the framework of party unity and collective strength.

Dr. Adibe-Nwafor noted that party registration is ongoing manually at local and state levels, while the national e-registration portal is temporarily down due to technical issues but will be restored soon.
