The 2025 Cricket World Cup Star Girl, Lilian Ude was on Saturday received and celebrated by the Executive Chairman of Afikpo Local Government Area, NWACHI, Timothy A. U for her exploits in the just concluded 2025 Cricket World Cup that took place in Malaysia.
The stellar performance of Lilian Ude who hails from Nkpoghoro in Afikpo LGA of Ebonyi State gave Nigeria the 6th Position in the World event, a feat that placed Nigeria on the Cricket World Map. Also, her thrilling and energetic display, especially against Ireland earned her the Best player of the Tournament Award-A rare feat in the history of cricket tournaments in the world.

Excited by this feat, the Executive Chairman of Afikpo LGA, NWACHI, Timothy A. U hosted the Star Girl at Government Secondary School,Afikpo alongside other Cricket players as a way of encouraging her and other young talents to aspire higher in the game.
In his remarks, the Council Chairman, expressed the joy of the good people of Afikpo Local Government Area on the stunning performance of Lilian Ude at the global scene and implored the youths of Afikpo to use their God-given talents,skills and energy to make their families, Local Government, State and Country proud.

The Council Chairman who donated undisclosed amount of money to the Star Girl as a token of appreciation, assured of his administration’s preparedness to develop sports’ activities in the Area as part of the measures to create the enabling environment the youths would leverage on to hone their talents and showcase their skills to the world.

Earlier in his remark, the South East Representative in the National Board of Cricket, Chief Chika Okoro who briefed Afikpo Local Government Chairman and other Stakeholders on the superlative accomplishment of Afikpo Born Lilian Ude in far away Malaysia where she represented Nigeria in Cricket World Cup, disclosed that Afikpo is blessed with talented young ones which himself and his team are discovering and grooming for subsequent outings at all levels.
The Hon. Commissioner for Market Development and Parks, Prof Ajuka Obasi Nwogo and that of Tertiary Education on their own parts, congratulated the Star Girl for making her State and Country Proud in the Cricket Game and wished her the best in her chosen life endeavor.

Joining the Council Chairman to the event included, the Vice Chairman of the Council, Hon(Mrs) Josephine Chinwe Nwogo; Coordinator of Amoha DC,Hon Ken Obasi Orji; Hon Councilors; Supervisors; SSAs and SAs to the Council Chairman; the 21st Principal of Government Secondary School, Afikpo, Hon.
