Calabar Golf Club Elects New Executives

In pursuant of its quest to propel the game of golf to new heights in Cross River, members of the Calabar Golf Club have elected a new executive to pilot its affairs for the next four years.

With the new the development, the game of Golf in Cross River is poised for a reawakening in 2025 and beyond.

In his acceptance speech, newly elected Captain of the Calabar Golf Club and immediate past Engr Bassey Nkposong pledged to leverage his rich golf pedigree managerial experience to reposition the Club as well as the game for spectacular season ahead.

He listed his immediate priority to include boosting corporate membership, cultivating robust synergy with relevant Sports Officials to enhance the popularity of the game the game.

The new exco will introduce drastic measures and innovation intended attract experienced and intending golfers,imbibe maintenance culture while working assiduously to upgrade existing facilities at the club to meet global standard”

Nkposong who is the immediate past general manager of the Cross River Basin Authority applauded the state government for the huge intervention in renovating the club and upgrading the golf course to guard against encroachment and erosion menace.

Others elected into the new Exco during during the Club AGM which took place at the Club premises are Barrister Anietie Okon, Vice Captain, Dr Aye Henshaw mni Secretary, Eric Okechi Treasurer, Sam Kalio Course Officer, Fidel Udie Competition/Handicap Secretary, Jesam Iwara House/Social Officer while Gladness Dan, was voted in as the new Bar Secretary.

Administering the Oath of Office, Chairman of the Electoral Committee and former Deputy Governor of the State, Barrister Effiok Cobham sued for team work, dedication and commitment from members of the new executive to guarantee optimum results.

Founded in 1991,the 18-holes Calabar Golf Club, adjacent to the famous Eburutu Barracks of the Nigerian Army is the only facility for Golfers in the State.
