In a rare display of humility and compassion, emotions ran high at Ebia Unuhu as Mr Henry Nwambam knelt in gratitude to receive the keys to his new home from his employer, the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Finance, Prof. Leonard Chukwuma Uguru.

The modest bungalow, personally built by the commissioner, was handed over to Nwambam, his personal assistant of over two and a half years, as a reward for loyalty and dedicated service. The touching moment drew admiration from community members and guests who described the gesture as leadership with a human face.
In a brief homily, Rev. Fr. Jude Agama, a Catholic priest of Immaculate Conception, Nkwegu , urged young people to remain faithful, humble and hardworking in their places of service, noting that rewards may come sooner or later, but diligence never goes unnoticed.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Uguru explained that the house was built to help his aide begin a stable and independent life. He noted that Nwambam, who lost his father, had been living with his mother in the village, and deserved support that would improve his welfare and work efficiency.
“This is to help him move closer to town, work more effectively, and also to support him to start life properly, build a family and grow,” the commissioner said, praying for peace, unity and progress in the home.
Prof. Uguru further disclosed that similar support is being extended to other aides, stressing that leadership should be about lifting others and creating opportunities for growth.
The gesture has continued to attract praise, reinforcing Prof. Uguru’s reputation not just as a technocrat, but as a leader who believes in empowering people and helping others rise.
