In a compassionate outreach aimed at uplifting vulnerable citizens, the wife of the Ebonyi State Governor, Mrs. Uzoamaka Mary-Maudline Ogbonna Nwifuru, on Tuesday visited the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital (AEFUTHA), Abakaliki, where she extended financial support to indigent patients struggling to settle their medical bills.

The visit, carried out under the auspices of her pet project the Better Ebonyi Women Renaissance Organisation (BERWO) reflects her deep commitment to equity in healthcare delivery and to reaching the unreached in society.
Speaking during the visit, Mrs. Nwifuru emphasised the importance of breaking socio-economic barriers that continue to marginalise the most vulnerable members of society.
“We cannot overemphasise the importance of reaching the unreached and breaking the barriers that so deeply alienate us as a people.

Today’s engagement is grounded in our belief that no one should be denied medical care due to lack of funds,” she said.
She pledged her continued support for indigent patients in the state and called for collective efforts to ensure that all residents, regardless of their background, have access to quality healthcare.
Mrs. Nwifuru also expressed gratitude to the management and staff of AEFUTHA, particularly the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Robinson Onoh, and the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), Dr. Uchenna Nwedu, for their consistent collaboration in identifying truly needy patients and partnering with BERWO to provide timely interventions.
