Abakaliki, Ebonyi State — Members of the Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Technical Working Group in Ebonyi State have been charged to redouble their efforts in the fight against gender-based violence across the state.

Dr. Linda Chinyere Aloh, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs, Ebonyi State, gave the charge during the group’s quarterly review meeting held on Tuesday in Abakaliki.

The meeting was put together by the Ministry of Women’s Affairs with support from UNFPA.

In her remarks, Dr. Aloh emphasised the importance of synergy among partners, stakeholders, and team members in developing a realistic and impactful action plan that will guide interventions in the coming quarter and beyond.

“It is my honour to warmly welcome you to this crucial meeting of the GBV Technical Working Group,” she said. “Today’s session presents an important opportunity for us to reflect on our collective efforts in addressing gender-based violence across Ebonyi State.”

She highlighted the significance of reviewing and validating data gathered over the past quarter, stressing that accurate, reliable, and relevant data form the foundation for informed decision-making and effective intervention.

“Beyond the data, this meeting allows us to critically assess the progress we’ve made in implementing GBV prevention and response activities. It is a time to identify existing gaps, confront emerging challenges, and jointly propose practical, evidence-based solutions,” she noted.

Dr. Aloh further urged all stakeholders to use the platform to strengthen collaboration, enhance coordination, and reaffirm their shared commitment to eliminating GBV in the state.

“Let us work together to develop a realistic and impactful action plan that will guide our efforts in the next quarter and beyond,” she concluded. “I sincerely thank you all for your unwavering dedication and look forward to productive deliberations and concrete outcomes.”

The quarterly review meeting provided stakeholders with a platform to reflect on achievements, challenges, and strategic ways forward in the state’s ongoing campaign to eliminate gender-based violence.
