The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has embarked on a strategic overhaul under the leadership of its Chairman, Dr. Zacch Adedeji, to meet its ambitious revenue target of N25.2 trillion for 2025.

According to sources, Dr. Adedeji has developed a 2025 strategic roadmap that prioritizes people-centric policies, technology, innovation, and operational excellence to strengthen FIRS’s capacity. A key component of this roadmap is the target to handle 80% of FIRS tasks internally, reducing dependence on external consultants and strengthening institutional capacity.

To achieve this goal, the FIRS Chairman has initiated a recruitment drive to attract top talent and invested in training programs to upskill existing staff. This move is aimed at ensuring the workforce remains competitive and future-ready.

The FIRS is also leveraging technology to enhance tax administration. This includes implementing digital platforms for seamless access, advanced technologies for audits and compliance, and real-time monitoring. These initiatives are expected to improve revenue collection and reduce tax evasion.

Under Dr. Adedeji’s leadership, FIRS has achieved significant revenue growth, surpassing its target with a record-breaking N21.6 trillion revenue generation in 2024. This impressive performance has set the stage for the agency’s ambitious revenue target for 2025.

The strategic overhaul being driven by Dr. Adedeji is aimed at modernizing the FIRS, improving revenue collection, and building a high-performing workforce. With his leadership, the FIRS is poised to meet its revenue targets and play a key role in driving Nigeria’s economic growth.
