Gov. Ishaku has charge Journalists to always abide by the rules of the Profession.
He urge them to be professional in their writing and shun blackmail; he describe the pivotal role the media played throughout his administration bringing information of his works to the people.
The Governor stated this while hosting members of the Correspondents’ Chapel and other journalists in the state for a Dinner held at the Presidential lodge, Jalingo.
“I love journalism, but I don’t I like journalism for sell. I admire Christiane Amanpour of CNN, because she covers the integrity of journalism”.
“All this teaches us the danger, the importance of journalism. But when you blackmail, your life spam will be very short.
Ishaku frowned at recent students’ protests, stating that when lecturers are out of school for 8 months not working but want to be paid.
He charges journalists in the state to work with whoever will be in government and also collaborate with him.
He charged Journalists to shun journalism of blackmail as well as desist from trading with the profession.
“Journalism is not against the government but should be partners in progress, i advise you to maintain professionalism.
“I subscribed to a genuine criticism rather than journalism of fore sale and blackmail.
Governor Darius Ishaku appreciated some of the Journalists practicing in the state for ensuring objectivity in their reportage and advised the media practitioners to collaborate and cooperate with whoever is going to succeed him.
He penciled out the issue of water scarcity before he was elected as governor in 2015 in the rural areas across the state which he said, has become a thing of the past as his administration had provided portable drinking water in almost all nooks and crannies of the state.
The governor, however, expressed his love for the journalists and the profession and pointed out that he was happy with all the Journalists for their support and cooperation with his administration.
Earlier, the state NUJ Chairman who is also the Acting GM of TSBS, David Nya appreciated the governor for organizing the dinner in honor of the journalists and also for finding him worthy and appointing him to head one of the state-owned media organizations.
On his part, the Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Gabriel Yough commended the governor for carrying the journalists along in governing the affairs of the state, especially for the appointments of the Ag. TSBS Gm and the elevation of one of the journalists to the position of Permanent Secretary in the state among others.
