Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has requested an extension of the Lives and Livelihoods Fund (LLF) project to further enhance the economic sustainability of the region and empower more communities. The Governor made this plea during a dinner with representatives from donor organizations supporting the project at Government House, Kano.
Governor Yusuf emphasized the importance of the project in improving the quality of life for the most marginalized individuals and empowering the burgeoning population of unemployed young men and women in Kano, the most populous state in the northern region. He highlighted his administration’s achievements in healthcare, education, agriculture, empowerment, and relief measures for the underprivileged within its inaugural year in office.
The Governor expressed gratitude to the donor organizations, stating, “We appreciate your support for this noble initiative that has positively impacted over one million residents of Kano. Your efforts have significantly increased daily income for numerous households, contributing to the socio-economic advancement of the state.”
Governor Yusuf assured the donor organizations that their contributions are in reliable hands, as the Kano State Government is dedicated to the meticulous management of every aspect of the project. He requested the extension of the project to broaden the scope of beneficiaries and enhance economic sustainability.
Earlier, Mr. Adil Alsharif, team leader of the donor delegation, explained that the primary objective of their visit was to observe the LLF-funded project in action, supporting small-scale farmers, pastoralists, and prominent agricultural associations in Kano. He emphasized that the visit would enhance awareness and visibility of the fund and its benefactors, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for their collective efforts in driving positive changes within the community.
The donor organizations expressed satisfaction with the project’s implementation progress and fund utilization, seeking continued support for the initiative.
