The President of JCI Abuja Unity, JCIN Amb. Unwana Bright Ekong, has paid glowing tribute to the Council of Past Presidents of the organisation, describing them as the architects of the chapter’s enduring legacy and commending their selfless leadership and commitment to service.

In a goodwill message to commemorate International Human Duties Day, Ekong said the achievements of the 2026 administration were built on the sacrifices, vision and dedication of previous leaders who laid a solid foundation for the organisation’s growth.

According to him, leadership is the highest expression of duty, requiring courage, sacrifice and unwavering commitment even when recognition is absent.

“You are not simply past leaders; you are the architects of the very legacy I now have the privilege to steward,” he stated, adding that the Council of Past Presidents remains a vital source of mentorship, wisdom and guidance for the organisation.

The JCI Abuja Unity President noted that this year’s International Human Duties Day holds special significance as the chapter prepares to celebrate its 20th anniversary in August 2026, describing the milestone as a testament to two decades of impactful leadership, resilience and community service.

He said every achievement recorded by the organisation over the past two decades reflects the commitment and sense of duty demonstrated by successive administrations.

Ekong also highlighted the chapter’s forthcoming hosting of GBEDEGU ’26, the JCI Nigeria Northern Conference, scheduled to take place in Abuja in August, saying the opportunity to host the regional gathering during the organisation’s 20th anniversary is a reflection of the high standards established by its past leaders.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the current administration to preserving the values of excellence, service and leadership that have defined JCI Abuja Unity since its inception.

The President expressed appreciation to members of the Council of Past Presidents for their continued guidance and support, noting that although they have completed their tenures, their contributions remain invaluable to the growth and success of the organisation.

He also extended a formal invitation to all past presidents to participate in the 20th anniversary celebrations and the GBEDEGU ’26 Northern Conference, describing their presence as essential to commemorating the chapter’s rich history and inspiring the next generation of leaders.
