On the 23rd of October, 2025 NAWOJ joined ,FG, States and Media Leaders Unite to Boost Health Outcomes in Nigeria
This meeting was a High-Level Health Media Dialogue where states and media executives across Nigeria called for stronger collaboration and advocacy to enhance Primary Health Care (PHC) delivery and improve health outcomes across the country.

Themed: “Strengthening Primary Healthcare: A Collaborative Approach to Reducing Maternal Mortality and Enhancing Child Health in Nigeria,” the forum brought together key stakeholders from government, development partners, and the media in a united effort to advance Nigeria’s health agenda—particularly in the areas of maternal and child health.
T he National President of NAWOJ, Hajiya Aishatu Ibrahim representing the Association noted that “As journalists, we recognize that information is a powerful catalyst for change. The media has the unique ability to set the agenda, shape public discourse, and hold policymakers accountable. This dialogue provides a vital platform to build consensus between government, media, and partners on strategies that will ensure equitable, sustainable, and gender-responsive PHC financing”
She went further to explain that NAWOJ particularly underscores the need to strengthen the capacity of media actors especially women journalists to frame health financing narratives in ways that inspire public interest and drive policy action.
The initiative was organized by the International Society for Media in Public Health (ISMPH) under the Advocacy Solution Project, implemented by EngenderHealth with funding support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The project operates within the broader Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, Adolescent Health and Nutrition (RMNCAH+N) framework, aimed at driving evidence-based advocacy and fostering accountability in Nigeria’s health sector.
